beach found at Salvo Beach No. 3 Subdivision. Academic research indicates sediment to maintain the beaches at Salvo is derived from transport of
sediment from the geologic framework on the inner continental shelf and large sand shoal deposits that result just offshore. This portion of the NC
continental shelf yields relatively high sediment in abundance characterized by the shore shoals that yield sediment supply and accumulation to this area of
the barrier islands.
